Watercolour artists in Lumbini to portray Buddha’s birthplace – Himalayan Times

LUMBINI: Watercolour artists from several countries — who are in Nepal at present to participate in the second International Watercolor Festival — have arrived in Lumbini to paint the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.

Lumbini visit is one part of the festival organised by International Watercolor Society-Nepal and artists from home and abroad will work on the theme of birthplace of Buddha, the founder of Buddhism who is revered as an epitome of peace and non-violence.


According to Society’s general secretary Deependra Man Banepali, artists will present their field-based works which will be exhibited at a mega art workshop scheduled for Thursday here.

Forty artists from seven countries including Nepal have arrived here to illustrate Lumbini in their paintings.

The festival that kicked off on December 3 at the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu will conclude on December 9.
